Privacy Policy
How Pocketry handles your ideas, build records, screenshots, and early-access emails.
Updated 3 October 2026 · Current internal-test service
1. Who we are and what this covers
Black Layers Corp., Calgary, Alberta, Canada, operates Pocketry. This policy covers the Pocketry landing page, early-access email enquiries, and the current internal-test version of the Pocketry iPhone app and Pocketry Cloud. For our other products and website, see the Black Layers Privacy Policy.
Pocketry is not publicly available. Email sign-in, paid plans, support-ticket accounts, and publishing generated apps are not implemented today. This policy does not describe those features as operating services.
2. Information involved
- Early-access and support emails: your email address, name if you provide it, and the content and attachments you send to info@blacklayers.ca.
- App ideas and revisions: the descriptions, change requests, and images you choose to submit; generated source code; build messages, timestamps, results, checklists, and screenshots.
- Device and access information: a random install identifier, phone model, app version, phone approval status, and free-build usage. These allow us to manage internal-test access and build limits.
- Local app records: your app list, activity, and preferences are stored on your device. An optional personal Claude API key is held in the iOS Keychain.
- Technical records: requests to the website and cloud service may include IP addresses, request metadata, and operational logs processed by the hosting provider.
Voice capture begins when you press Record. Pocketry’s own voice capture requires on-device speech recognition; audio is not sent to Pocketry Cloud by that feature. The resulting text is submitted as your idea when you ask to build. Your keyboard’s dictation is governed separately by your device settings and provider.
3. How we use it
We process submitted information to generate, build, test, and revise your app; return code, screenshots, and checklists; manage testing invitations and free-build limits; troubleshoot problems; respond to you; and protect the service against abuse. Please submit only information you have permission to use and avoid including confidential third-party material or sensitive personal data in an app idea.
Joining the early list requires you to send an email. Clicking the button alone does not add you to a database. We use your enquiry to manage Pocketry invitations and related replies. Ask us by email if you no longer want to hear about early access.
4. AI and cloud processing
Your build cannot happen entirely on your iPhone. The current workflow uses these providers:
- Anthropic (Claude): receives the app description, relevant code and revision context, and submitted or generated images where needed to write and evaluate your app.
- Vercel: hosts Pocketry Cloud and a private store for build records, approval records, screenshots, and related results.
- GitHub: holds generated app code in the private Pocketry Lab repository used by the build workflow. Repository history can retain earlier versions.
- Apple: builds and tests generated code on its Macs and distributes the Pocketry test app through TestFlight. Apple handles its own TestFlight and platform information.
Service providers may process information outside Canada under their own terms, privacy policies, and applicable laws. We cannot promise that data stays in Canada. See Anthropic, Vercel, GitHub, and Apple.
If you choose to provide your own Claude API key, it is transmitted over HTTPS for the AI request. The current cloud workflow does not write the key into stored job records. Anthropic processes it to authenticate the request.
5. Storage, security, and retention
Cloud build information is held in private storage; image access uses signed links. Generated code is submitted to a private build repository. These safeguards reduce risk but do not guarantee absolute security.
Build records, screenshots, operational information, and repository history may persist while needed for the test service, troubleshooting, security, or legal obligations. The current implementation has no automatic deletion schedule for all build data. A screenshot link’s expiry is an access limit, not proof that the underlying screenshot has been deleted.
You can request deletion by emailing us with the install identifier displayed in Pocketry and enough detail to locate your build. We will assess what can be removed, explain any provider, backup, legal, or repository-history limitations, and respond. Uninstalling Pocketry does not itself remove cloud records.
6. This landing page
The Pocketry landing page does not add advertising trackers, an analytics SDK, a contact database, or non-essential cookies. Its fonts, screenshots, and 3D code are served as website assets. The hosting provider may still process technical request information. Links to Black Layers or other websites lead to services with their own privacy practices.
The 3D scene responds locally to pointer movement and scrolling; this interaction is not sent to us. Email buttons open your email application and send nothing until you send the message.
7. Your choices and requests
You can stop submitting ideas, revoke microphone and speech permissions, remove an optional key through the app’s controls, and ask to leave the early list. Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about our processing. We may need enough information to verify that the request relates to you without asking for more than is necessary.
For unresolved privacy concerns, you may contact the relevant Canadian or local privacy regulator, including the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the service or its processing changes. Where required, we will provide notice and seek consent for a new use of personal information.
