Hushnote

Privacy Policy

Effective September 12, 2026
Black Layers

Hushnote is built so that your meetings stay on your iPhone. This page says exactly what that means.

1. Who we are

Hushnote is made by BLACK LAYERS CORP. (blacklayers.ca), a software studio in Alberta, Canada. This policy explains how the Hushnote iOS app handles your information. The short version: it does not send it anywhere.

2. What the app does with your data

• Audio. When you record, the microphone audio is processed live on your iPhone by the speech recognition built into iOS to produce a transcript. The audio is not stored unless you turn on "Keep audio recordings" in Settings, and then it is stored only on your iPhone. • Transcripts, summaries, decisions and action items. These are produced on your iPhone by the language models built into iOS (Apple Intelligence) and saved in the app's own database on your iPhone. • Your notes and folders. Saved on your iPhone. Nothing above is transmitted to Black Layers or to anyone else. The app contains no networking code.

3. What we collect

Nothing. Hushnote has no account system, no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising and no tracking. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected". We cannot see your meetings, and we could not hand them to anyone if asked, because we do not have them.

4. Apple services

• Speech models. The first time you set up a language, iOS downloads a speech model from Apple. That download is between your iPhone and Apple and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. • Apple Intelligence. Summaries are written by the on-device model. Hushnote does not use Apple's Private Cloud Compute or any server-side model. • Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store. Apple processes the payment; Hushnote only learns whether a subscription is active, through Apple's StoreKit on the device. We never see your payment details.

5. Sharing and export

Nothing leaves the app until you choose to share it. When you export a meeting as PDF or Markdown and share it, the file goes wherever you send it (Mail, Messages, AirDrop, another app). That is your action, and the receiving app's privacy policy applies from then on.

6. Data storage, backups and deletion

Your data lives in the app's private storage on your iPhone. If you use iCloud Backup or an encrypted local backup, iOS includes app data in that backup according to your iPhone's backup settings; Hushnote itself does not sync anything. To delete a meeting, swipe it away in the list. To delete everything, use "Delete all meetings" in Settings or delete the app. There is no copy anywhere else to delete.

7. Children

Hushnote is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Recording other people may be subject to consent laws where you are; you are responsible for complying with them.

8. Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or erase on your behalf. Everything is under your control on your iPhone. If you have a question about this policy, email us and a person will answer.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes what it does with data, this page changes first and the app will say so before the new behaviour takes effect. The effective date above is updated whenever this page is updated.
