Terms of Use
Plain terms for a plain product: what the service is, what the subscription costs and when it renews, and what you may not use it for.
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and BLACK LAYERS CORP. ("we") and cover the Veil iOS app and the VPN service behind it. By using the app you accept them. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app as distributed through the App Store.
2. The service
Veil encrypts your device's internet traffic and routes it through a server we operate, and optionally blocks tracker, ad and malware domains ("Shield"). The free tier includes a limited set of locations, a speed cap and tracker blocking. Veil+ removes the cap and unlocks every location and every Shield category. We may change locations, capacities and features over time.
3. Subscriptions
Veil+ is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store: weekly (with a free trial for new subscribers), monthly or yearly. The price and renewal date are shown before you buy and in the app's Settings. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Manage or cancel in Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ Subscriptions on your iPhone. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to break the law where you or the server are located, to send spam, to attack other systems, to infringe others' rights, or to circumvent age-verification, geo-restriction or other access controls. Outbound mail ports are blocked on our servers. We may suspend a device key that is abusing the service.
5. What we don't promise
The service is provided as is. We do not guarantee that every site or app will work through the tunnel, that Shield will block every tracker or ad, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before a claim.
6. Privacy
Our privacy policy at https://www.blacklayers.ca/veil/privacy is part of these terms. We have no accounts, keep no logs of your activity and do not sell, use or disclose your data to third parties.
7. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription with Apple. We may end the agreement for a breach of section 4.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada. If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
